Artist's Comments
In an effort to expand the schema of a still life, I decided to use what I had lying about my dorm to create some art. I stink at painting, so I just started taking pictures from every angle I could against every possible background. I wanted to make sure the picture had a gritty feel to it, because a college dorm (even at organization-maniac Wheaton) is not a subtle place. What I eventually came up with was a stack of Ramen noodles tha had been in the floor common room for a couple of days, some lemons I had nicked from the cafeteria (I don't think they were missed; I seem to be the only person around who likes to eat straight lemons.) and a dollar store plastic-ware pitcher of pink lemonade. Also, for some reason, one of the lemons ended up in a wine glass full of lemonade. I ended up using a picture taken of everything on top of my mini fridge against an unadorned portion of my wall. I like this one; it makes me chuckle.
