Daring Do Woodwork

It's time for an exciting tale of derring-do! Er, I mean Daring Do.

Well, here's my first foray into carving clothes. I don't particularly care for the result, but I suppose I can't bash it too hard either. It's fairly primitive, and it does look like a first try, but hopefully it can be improved upon on Fluttershy in a gala dress (already in progress).
If I had to pick out areas for improvement I would note the unsatisfactory shape of the pith helmet, and the shape of the head. The upward tilt of the face was more difficult to capture than I had anticipated, and I'm displeased with the face and muzzle. The mane, as I feared, was also very difficult to insert and style underneath the brim of the pith helmet.
On the upside, I'm glad to have gone with a minimalist paint scheme, as recommended by several people. (So thank you.) Instead I wanted the paint to highlight the bandage and cutie mark. I had wanted to experiment with staining the jacket, but the nearest place that sold green stain is an hour and a half away and I just couldn't swing it. But expect some expeditionary pieces in the future. (All the adventurous language in this bloc is entirely on purpose, by the way.)
