I had a ton of fun on this one guys. Lucien is an OC piece for and let me stop right there. Click on that icon right now and go admire her work. A fantastic artist, and a great person to work with.
Lucien is a spypony of sorts, so he ended up in a sneaky pose. The creeping, sneaking, low to the ground stance was an absolute blast to work on, although I broke a silly-huge amount of sawblades on it. I used a particularly thick piece of starting wood in order to give Lucien's jacket plenty of space, but it was worth it. The jacket was interesting to figure out, both in the design and in the actual woodworking, and I'm super-glad crowbartk-hullo requested it with a stain, because it definitely looks better stained rather than plain. Mostly though, I just enjoyed getting back into the shop and working on a completely new pose after too long without. Want to see more? Why not check out the extensive work in progress gallery or his expanded finished gallery over at My Little Woodcraft.
Really fun and energy filled pose. Feels like Lucien is about to follow through on that step... the moment.. I look.. away. I like how the grain of the wood for the coat stands out. The lines seem to add to a sense of motion.
Omigod, LOVE the pose! And the partially-obscured cutie mark makes him look so realistic! The colors, the horn, everything's great! I might have to save up some money and commission one of these fellas from you soon.
