A second version of my first Chrysalis wand, done in maple for the inestimable plushie maker
(and this is me
complimenting a plushie maker. That's a big deal. Plushies ain't usually my jive.) at a more normal size and with a few tweaks and updates.
I agree with a lot of you that the first one was very knife like, so I entirely did away with the divider between handle and shaft. I'm not sure I like the whole ambiguity that resulted, but I definitely like it more than the mark I look. I also added another curve to the handle, since the mark I didn't fit the palm very well. And I do like this change at least, even though it does affect the look a bit. It handles considerably better, and can even be flipped over and held comfortably, which I like.
I wish the stain had set better on this piece, but at least this time I had a little green dye to mix with the stain, for that fun, insectoid subcoloration.
