Time Trial Woodwork: Derpy

So the night before I left for China, at about 11pm, I stopped packing and headed to the workshop to make sure that I had some woodwork to leave with any friends I met. Since I knew that I needed to work quickly anyway, I decided to see how fast I could make a set of passable ponies. Now, I know these aren't up to my current standards, but the goal was that they should be done as quickly as possible while still not being scrapbook worthy, and I think that they do fall on this side of that line, despite some pretty big flaws.
The two ponies were Derpy and Fluttershy, and it doesn't make sense to ask how long each one took because they were done side by side so that I could use the same tools on both without wasting time switching bits, etc. But the pair of them took 4 hours and 27 minutes, to go from a block of wood to completely finished, including designing, which isn't too shabby if I say so myself. (Especially with the new eyes for Derpy, which I had to work out on the fly, explaining why the right eye is a bit goofy looking, and which took the last half-hour of time.)

So have some Speed Derpy! I'm actually pretty content with her. That right eye bothers me; I shouldn't have engraved the full circle of the eye and painted only part of it, but I actually quite like how they came out on her. I still like the eyeless look for my ponies, but for future Derpy models the painted eyes will definitely be an addable option. The feathered wings are all right, and the shape is pretty decent, although the dividing line of the legs is uneven. All in all, she looks like she was done in a hurry, and she's not a pony I'd put on display, but she's very adequate for the task she was intended for:
Towit, Derpy is now in the possession of, well, I'm embarrassed to say that I don't know how to spell his Chinese name, but while we were trading names he got the English name Jonathan, one of my cleaning buddies with whom I became good friends. (Another thing about the Naxi people we worked with. We know a few girls over there, but we had volunteer help coming out of the woodwork. Jonathan is the best friend of the boyfriend of one of our contacts there and still showed up out of nowhere to put in twenty hours of scrubbing dental tools. It was incredible.)
