Queen Chrysalis Wand

A little side-commission for to keep up some little pocket moneys. I'm waiting on a shipment of tagua nut for the tusks on my elephants, so I found myself with a little spare time, and this seemed like a fun project. In retrospect I would have liked to add one more turn to the handle so that the wand could be held inverted; as it is, the grip lends itself to a knife-like grip rather than the Hogwarts-approved swish and flick. This is exacerbated a little by the size of the wand; it's been upsized about a third again as large as my normal wands, not including the curving length of the wood, which adds more weight. In all, though, I think I got the weight down to a very reasonable amount for the size, shape and balance of the piece/
Coloring this piece was another plus for the project. I wanted to have it dark, of course, but with an unhealthy sheen to it, like oil or starling-wing-black. The final result is alright. Not what I wanted, but it does have a sort of sub-color worked into the grain of the wood. A fun ditty for the weekend, certainly.
